Ikea and the Japanese subway
Ikea chose a unique way of promoting their products in Japan. The company completely furnished all the trains of a Japanese monorail airy subway. The trains were practically transformed into a mobile Ikea showroom. The promoting campaign came after Ikea opened a new store in Port Island. To ‘renovate’ the subway Ikea used 55 armchairs and couple of thousands of curtains, the bonus being a very attractive and colorful design for the subway` s exterior look. The travelers had a very pleasant and special trip. Ikea also decorated a train station from Amsterdam with mirrors, benches and pillows as a promoting campaign.
