PostHeaderIcon IKEA store in Netanya burns down by short circuit

A massive fire on Saturday the 5th of February 2011 completely burned down IKEA Swedish furniture store in Netanya (Isreal) near Poleg junction on the coastal road, destroying all the merchandised inside and the complete building as well. The fire started in the early morning of Saturday on the east section of the building; luckily no one was in the building at the time of the accident.

The fire was caused by a short circuit conclusion from the police investigation thus excluding the arson theory. It was caused by water entering the electrical systems. The Fire services of Netanya is still investigation the reason why the fire detention system was unable to prevent such an unfortunate disaster.There are plans to rebuild and reopen the store within one year.

India’s overall sales revenue in 2010 was approximately USD 370 billion and it forecasts salesfigures will will grow to USD 680 billion by 2014 according to Business Monitor International, a London research firm.

This new initiative will give Ikea chief executive hopes to enter the retail market however foreign investors require partnership deals to a maximum of 49% with local companies to be able to open store throughout India. For Ikea it is a requirement where local companies may find hard to accept due to the fact that it may take years to get back money from their investment.
